A short but action packed life
came face to face with death, strife.
His artistic talents came to the fore
on D Day and before.

Conscripted into the military
a sapper with artistic ability.
Three years on English soil
staying clear of Europe’s turmoil.

Past a parachute course at Ringway
a real achievement in his day.
Now tested in Hitler's war
it wouldn't be a grand tour.

Merville Battery the target now
Albert survived this attack somehow.
Not so lucky as the advance went on
a land mine and Albert was gone.
