lilly of the valley on
display,
the roe deer drop their young,
hover fly, I hear their
hum.
Trees in leaf, the canopy thickens,
the pace of forest life quickens,
birds, hyperactive days of
activity,
fetching and carrying in servility.
Larger animals quietly
preoccupied,
their noises not so amplified,
stay down wind on a sunny
day,
joyfully watching young foxes play.
An evening walk could bring
delight,
badger cubs a pleasing sight,
parents too, join in the
fun,
spirits raised by a setting sun.
Fully aroused from winters
rest,
nature functions at its best,
things happen at alarming speed,
an
atmosphere of joie de
vive.

Bluebells.
Bluebells.
The browns of winter shrugged off
April yields is spring toff.
Moist shady environments provide
conditions where bluebells thrive.
Hoards of glorious blues and greens
cast aside the in betweens.
Attention seekers all around
I wish they'd stay all year round.
Watch them in a gentle breeze
all together if you please.
Left then right, now stand still
wait the breezy masters chill.
At their best in April May
in June they start to fade away.
Back to earth from whence they came
asleep, rejuvenate their perennial
game.

in exams nobodies fool.

learning things to exist.

April
The start not much different to March
on dry days wood ants march.
From sticky buds in March I see
green leaves on the chestnut tree.
When April is wet earthworms abound
blackbird and thrush search the ground.
Slowing a little when the ground is dry
surfacing worms a little shy.
The blackbirds season longest of all
March to July as I recall.
Rows of poplars orchestrated foliation
all together reach maturation.
Unpropagated trees great variation
male and female ancestral causation.
Early morning the cuckoo's sound
then a burst of activity all around.
A blaze of colour at my feeding tray
young and old what an affray.
Marsh tits, nuthatch, chaffinches too
the robin patient admiring the view.
The green woodpecker sits on high
I see its reflection against the sky.
French partridges looking for scraps
all day, will they ever relax?
As dusk comes things quiesce
not a great deal of mess.
All in all a fascinating day
what a treat watching birds at play.

Brief Encounter
An uneasy glance
across the room, a second glance none to soon
she’s looking at me that’s for sure, she’s very smart with much allure.
The guys she's with seems to care, his arm around a waist that's bare
she turns him with his back to me, her eyes just say she can be free.
An uneasy wriggle in my seat, where and when can we meet?
who is she then and what her name? I sure enjoy this flirting game.
I reach the bar and get a drink, then ask the barmen “who's that in pink”?
he shrugs his shoulders nonchalantly, I haven’t a clue who she can be.
I’m heading back to my seat, her lovely perfume my nostrils meet

He then heads her to the door, she gives that look, what’s this for?
