Gary Lineker.

Gary Lineker.
Footballer. Journalist,
Broadcaster.Charity worker.

Born 1960. Leicester. England.

In a senior career which spanned 16 years and 567 competitive games, Lineker scored a total of 282 goals at club level. Added to the 48 goals he scored in internationals, he managed a total of 330 first class goals.

One of the few players never to have been given a yellow card or a red card in any type of game.

Very good golfer, cricketer too,
all of the ball games he did pursue,
football he chose to start his career,
Filbert St. he had his first cheer.

Eight years at Leicester learning his stuff,
then deciding he'd given enough,
Everton next he took his game,
a season of brilliance enhanced his name.

Barcelona his next port of call.
Three years of standing tall,
Spurs next, three years for them.
a move to Japan they did not condemn.

Grampus Eight the final call,
Two years of giving his all,
old injuries causing strain,
so ended the Lineker reign.

In the 1986 world cup he was top scorer of the tournament with six goals, winning the Golden Boot making him the first and to this day only English player to have done so. He scored the second quickest hat-trick ever at a FIFA World Cup tournament against Poland—in doing so, he became only the second English player to score a hat-trick at a FIFA World Cup.
